Houston’s Heavy Thoughts are on the move. With a debut, self-titled, LP on the way, they’re continuing to tease the world with new singles. Following up last month’s “I’m your Problem”, the band have now a new single and video “Cigarettes and Broken Homes”. Guess what? It’s not technically out yet, but TGEFM got our grubby mitts on it and now have the privilege to present it to you before it’s official release!
The song is heavy, a bit catchy at parts and, frankly, a bit of a bummer. But isn’t some of the best music like that, though? Delving further into the song, Austin (from the band, not the city) shares:
It’s meant to paint a picture of what happens inside your head during a panic attack. The feeling of sinking inward, contrasted with the desire of climbing out. the outcome, for me personally, was negative habits. Found myself spiraling as a recluse when by myself; drinking and chain smoking. In the second verse you get metaphors of hope, a realization that the feelings can’t decide for me. In a time where our world seems very controlling, basically saying what is the worst that can happen by just trying to thrive.
The song reflects how one feels, how one acts and how one survives from something that is out of your control. How panic attacks and things of the same become visceral.
Info on that LP, except for its existence, is still TBA. But we’ll keep you in the loop when more info comes out. In the meantime, check out the new single and video below. Underneath you’ll find a linktree page link with more Heavy Thoughts links than you’ll ever know what to do with, and we’ll also share their main streaming sites so you can jump straight them, if desired.
