TGEFM is grateful for the oppotunity to bring you the newest single from Lake Shark: “Waiting”!
The single is the fifth and final track off of their new EP The First Four Songs. Why five songs when it says …First Four…? Well the previous tracks have all been released through the end of 2020 and into 2021, and “Waiting” is brand-spanking new. The EP is out 01 Jul 2021.
Lake Shark, like many recent acts, has been entirely remote since their inception due to COVID. We’ll let Jake from the band give their story:
Lake Shark is punk band from Brooklyn/Tampa/Detroit who all share an unhealthy obsession with Descendents and All. Like all great things in this world, we started in 2020. Since the conditions of the world limited in-person shredding, maximum riffage had to be achieved remotely, with each member recording their own parts at home. “Waiting” was written as a pep talk to ourselves, reminding us that we’ll never achieve ALL if we just sit around waiting to die. Hope you find it to be decent!
The band does (and has been) compared to the styles of Descendents and ALL. Having heard all five songs in the order chosen for the EP, I can say that that is true, to a point. What I feel that Lake Shark most evokes is not those bands in particular, but the overall sound specific to albums from the late-80s punk, and it is a blast!
For now, check out the newest single from multi-state act Lake Shark! You can also follow them at Spotify, Bandcamp, and follow them at the FB or IG socials.
