Today is a super-special day, and not because it is St. Patrick’s Day, no… we’ve got something even better from the Emerald Isle: “It’s Boring”, the first single from Belfast-based pop-punk quartet No Matter‘s upcoming album!
The track may be called “It’s Boring”, but the song itself is anything but. A two-and-a-half minute toe-tapping blast of energy that features all of the elements that the band excel so well at: catchy tunes, multi-layered backing vocals and harmonies… the works.
I asked the band for a comment on the album, and they replied:
We recorded it last year and crashed in the studio for a week. We played a lot of SNES mini and watched Hellraiser, Event Horizon and a Judge Judy omnibus. Some cows came up to the window at one point, they must have liked what they heard. We hope you do too!
You know what they say: “Always trust a cow’s taste in music.” (they say that, right?)
The new LP, which will be out this year via Brassneck Records, doesn’t have a set release date or title yet, but the aim is to have it out by summer. It follows up their 2019 Excess Baggage EP.
Honestly, and full disclaimer here: No Matter are one of my favorite bands, so I’m definitely honored that they thought of TGEFM to premiere this. I’ve had the privilege to hear all of the tracks from the upcoming album and, I’ll tell you, it looks to top their Nov 2016 LP Ill Advised, which I gave a rare (for me) 4.5 star review when I was at Punknews.
The band will also be out on tour tootling around the UK starting next week. if you are in their path, there are few better things you can do then go hit up their show.
So check out those tour dates, and the new single, below. Underneath it you’ll find a whole bunch of links where you can stream or purchase No Matter music, or follow and support them via social media.
