in December 2021 Barrie, ON anthemic pop-punks Northpark released their demo track “Its On You”. Since then an interminable radio silence has ensured on the release front. Well… TGEFM says “no more!” We’re honored to premiere the new single AND video from the band, “Wasteland”!
The song is the first taste of their upcoming EP, the info of which is still under wraps (but TGEFM will get it to you as soon as more info comes out). The band talks about “Wasteland” saying:
Wasteland partially stands for/symbolizes your hometown. The song can mean something a little different for everyone depending on your perspective or situation. In Angelo’s case (vocals) it represents the need for a change in his life in order to better it, but realizing that it’s not the location of his hometown that determines your life but the choices you make. “The grass is never greener somewhere else but I need to get up and leave this wasteland” symbolizes the poor choices he’s made before in the past, and deciding to turn the page and start a new chapter in his life, in this case being sober. Going through these changes and truly becoming an adult can sometimes be a fight that can only be fought by the one going through it as some are not ready for these drastic changes which is what “and I don’t want to drag you down with me, cause there’s no ladder in this hole with me” symbolizes “Wasteland, my wasteland“. Everyone has their own wasteland.
Damn, Angelo. I’m not crying, I’ve just got something in my eye.
