Just a months ago TGEFM had the pleasure of premiering a new video from Dallas duo PRISMS|SUNSETS for their song “Snapback.” Now we’ve been tapped again to bring to you their newest single a day early! With “Unwinding Tide” we’ve got the second single from the band, and although it technically drops tomorrow… well… Happy Monday from TGEFM!
They have this to say about it, starting with Shane on vocals:
With “Unwinding Tide” we wanted to capture the idea of toxic codependency. It’s a story from the simultaneous perspective of two different people in a relationship who routinely engage in being terrible to one another but, at the same time, truly care about and need each other. The song carries an air of resignation as the two characters are disturbingly use to acting this way—normalcy is feeling trapped in an emotional prison of their own making.
Shane Simms
Multi-instrumentalist Justyn, who breathes life into the music, says:
It’s such a sweet, ambient, romantic track. Everything revolves around that verse riff, which I’ve played every time I’ve picked a guitar up for, like, the past 3 or 4 years. One day it finally morphed into a full blown idea and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.
Justyn Gomez
If you recall with our last premiere, we also shared with you Justyn’s play through video for the song and, guess what? We’ve got one for “Unwinding Tide,” too as a bonus for today’s premiere!
