Scene veterans Rad Owl (ex-Gratitude, Samiam and The Stereo) are currently preparing to release Rage Gracefully on 31 May via Sell The Heart Records and Engineer Records. Now we are lucky enough to get to premiere the band’s newest track, “Run It Out.”
The single comes to us with a lyric video and continues to show off the band’s melodic punk aptitude while testing out new sonic waters.
“‘Run It Out’ is the first song we wrote together with Ryan Tate on lead guitar, and it crackles with that excitement we all felt when he joined the band. We’re pushing the tempo to a frenetic level most of the way through, while stretching out in a dynamic bridge and solo section that’s such a great showcase for Ryan’s talents. It’s a hint at a direction we all want to explore moving forward.”
Drummer David Jarnstrom
Of the single, vocalist Jeremy Jesson explains:
“The lyrics were written coming out of the pandemic. I was playing off the baseball cliché. Like, even if it looks like you’re going to be out by a mile, you gotta keep running hard, cause you never know what might happen. We were coming out of this universally terrible period, full of fear and anger and strained relationships. There’s frustration, but also an element of hope that we’ll all keep trying to make this better, and somehow make it to where we need to go.”
Rad Owl can be found on 19 May at Pouzza Fest.

Bad Dad (occasionally called Ed) has been on the periphery of the punk and punk-adjacent scene for over twenty years. While many contributors to this site have musical experience and talent, Ed’s musical claim to fame comes from his time in arguably the most punk rock Blockbuster Video district in NJ where he worked alongside members of Blanks 77, Best Hit TV and Brian Fallon. He is more than just an awful father to his 2 daughters, he is also a dreadful husband, a subpar writer, a terrible dresser and has a severe deficiency in all things talent… but hey, at least he’s self-aware, amirite?
