I’m just going to put this out there now: if you just watched the video for Liquid State‘s new video “Wasted Youth”, you’d be all like “what a fun time they must be having!”
But then you listen to the lyrics and you’re like… what a bummer!
But there you have it. The dichotomy between the youthful exuberance and how, as the band describes, “Wasted Youth is quite simply about how we’re created to work, to pay bills, to sleep and then how we just gotta repeat it all until we die.” They elaborate further:
It’s a massive FU to the government and the big companies that are just robbing us blind. How we work ourselves to the ground yet still struggle to provide our families with basic human essentials such as food and hot water.
This song has unintentionally been released at such a rife time, the economy is an absolute shambles, and when our own government can’t provide any aid except from advising us to ‘buy a new kettle to save on electricity prices’ what fucking hope do we have…
Sure, it may seem a bit of a downer, but if we live in a world where we’re allowed to express these frustrations through our creativity (music, in Liquid State’s case), maybe there’s a bit of hope?
TGEFM is proud to premiere this new song and video by Bristol, UK’s Liquid State. Check it out below and, underneath, find information on the band’s upcoming mini-tour with Kite Thief and their date at the Rock Against Cancer event at Glastonbury, as well as social media and streaming links.
