Today TGEFM is pumped to premiere a new single and video from North Carolina emo act Run Home Jack. The new song, “New Devils, Same Demons” isn’t officially out until the 29th, but we’ve got it for you right here, right now!
The song keeps a slow tempo throughout, slowly building up during its first half into a powerful ballad (albeit, a sad one) before winding back down. When asked about the track and video, the band replied:
“New Devils, Same Demons” serves as the final piece in our video trilogy representing our upcoming concept album. The song itself is supposed to represent depression in the grieving process, & because of that it starts off softer and sadder than any other song on the album. The song is written from the perspective of someone who has been to death’s door & fought their way back, but is struggling to do so again when faced with a deeper issue. At this point in the story the character is deciding to take his fate into his own hands. The video serves as a conclusion to the story & has a ton of call back shots to the previous two videos we released this spring. This song meant a lot to us when writing it & the video does it more justice than we ever could have initially perceived.
When speaking of the band’s concept and influences, they add:
Run Home Jack is one of the latest frontrunners in North Carolina’s diverse rock scene. The band takes a nostalgic approach to songwriting, pulling influence from bands like The Used, Senses Fail, My Chemical Romance, & Bayside, while aiming to incorporate the modern production techniques of mainstream rock bands like The Foo Fighters, Shinedown, & Jimmy Eat World.
