Samuel S.C. continues their monthly single rollout with “Mind Flies,” the fifth release of the year and another step toward a new full-length due late 2026. Streaming everywhere 29 May, the track takes a breezy detour after the fast paced punch of “Celestial,” “Get Red,” and “Push the Needle,” trading speed for fuzzy hooks, sun-drenched harmonies and lyrical musings on memory and detachment.
Formerly known as Samuel, Samuel S.C. continues to bridge ‘90s indie rock grit and timeless punk without settling neatly into any one subgenre. Originally tied to drummer Eric Astor’s influential Art Monk Construction label, the band reformed in 2021 and has spent the years since steadily sharpening its sound and building momentum.
Their recent streak includes “Get Red,” “Push the Needle” and “Another Good Lie,” recorded and mixed by J. Robbins at Baltimore’s Magpie Cage Studio, alongside a landmark run featuring a 10″ split with Pohgoh and appearances at Fest and Several States Festival. With a late 2026 full-length planned via Expert Work Records and Sweet Cheetah Records, Samuel S.C. shows no signs of slowing down.

Bad Dad (occasionally called Ed) has been on the periphery of the punk and punk-adjacent scene for over twenty years. While many contributors to this site have musical experience and talent, Ed’s musical claim to fame comes from his time in arguably the most punk rock Blockbuster Video district in NJ where he worked alongside members of Blanks 77, Best Hit TV and Brian Fallon. He is more than just an awful father to his 2 daughters, he is also a dreadful husband, a subpar writer, a terrible dresser and has a severe deficiency in all things talent… but hey, at least he’s self-aware, amirite?
