Chicago power pop-punks Space Age Zeros recently revealed the pending release of their debut LP Strange New World, which is due out 13 Sep 2024 via Mystic Records. It will follow up their BLAST OFF! EP from 2022.
The band is also officially releasing the first single from the album, “FIREWORKS,” tomorrow but, guess what… TGEFM is premiering it for you today! “FIREWORKS” is an upbeat and sticky sweet love song, and comes as a lyric video that you can sing along to, too!
Full disclosure here: Bassist Jason Zero has also been a guest contributor to TGEFM, and has recently joined up as a regular contributor and reviewer. But TGEFM has been supporting Space Age Zeros before any of that, so don’t think that this any special treatment. We’re ALWAYS stoked to share and support the artistic endeavors of our contributors. As such, Jason told me a bit about about signing to Mystic, and the album itself:
Mystic Records has always been one of my favorite labels since first getting into punk rock. Some of the earliest purchases made to my collection were of bands on the label such as Government Issue and RKL. Fast forward 30 plus years to 2024 to find my band now releasing an album on this legendary label is a dream come true. We can’t wait for everyone to experience a “Strange New World” with us!”
Preorders for the album will be up at the Space Age Zeros Bandcamp in a bit, and the track will be fully released tomorrow, 05 Jul 2024, via most major streaming platforms (here’s the Spotify link)
the white drew carey (aka – Jeff Sorley) is the founder and head editor of TGEFM. He’s lived (outside of) Chicago, Madison WI, (ugh) Penn State, Lyon FR, Oxford UK, central New Jersey, and now within earshot of SFO in the Bay Area. When not scouring the web for more great bands and labels to post about, he also spends time drawing (mostly) silly sci-fi and anime stuff under the name Asplenia Studios.
Love it!
