Murder isn’t supposed to be this delightful but TGEFM is absolutely tickled to premiere “Killin’ It,” the latest single from California’s KOTA!
KOTA! explains:
“‘Killin’ It’ is for all of us who have been pushed down by society, and I hope it’ll especially be a girl power anthem! ‘Killin’ It’ started with a tarot pull while on the train to Brighton to see my amazing co-writer and producer, Asa Bennett. I pulled cards about strength, and when I heard the track, I knew exactly what the song would be about. After having a conversation with Asa’s wife about being a woman in this world, we wanted to channel that energy into a song about empowerment! The tag line, “I’m killin’ it” came immediately, it seemed like the perfect anthem lyric to show off the strength we all have inside. I had sent Asa over a Bjork track used in Sucker Punch, “Army of Me”, and he absolutely NAILED the energy which made it such an easy track to put power behind!”
Bad Dad (occasionally called Ed) has been on the periphery of the punk and punk-adjacent scene for over twenty years. While many contributors to this site have musical experience and talent, Ed’s musical claim to fame comes from his time in arguably the most punk rock Blockbuster Video district in NJ where he worked alongside members of Blanks 77, Best Hit TV and Brian Fallon. He is more than just an awful father to his 2 daughters, he is also a dreadful husband, a subpar writer, a terrible dresser and has a severe deficiency in all things talent… but hey, at least he’s self-aware, amirite?
