Premiere: Suffering from “Post Convention Depression” with Bathroom of the Future

Friends of TGEFM Bathroom of the Future (which includes occasional guest contributor Timothy David) have a brand new single and, well, if you know the Bathroom boys, you can probably guess that it’s steeped in pop/geek culture. (and that’s a good thing!)

We’re lucky enough to premiere it for you today, and it’s the bomb! “Post Convention Depression” is the name of the song and, well… I’ll let Tim fill you in:

The song was born out of both the band’s experiences, and my own personal history with conventions. While we’ve had songs that deal with going to conventions before, and songs that deal with depression before, we’ve never had one that tackles both at once, and it was exciting to see it come together over time.

The initial germ of the idea was born a very long time ago when I was dealing with the fact that I didn’t have any more anime or comic conventions to go to, but the actual song came together after we finally had a chance to perform on the main stage at DragonCon last year. As excited as we were to do it, as soon as we left, we all found ourselves pretty depressed about not being there, and the song took shape from there. We can only hope that someone out there can relate to it, whether they’re sad about convention season being over, having to leave a music festival, or even just their favorite holiday season passing by.

I can definitely empathize with the sentiment!

“Post Convention Depression” officially drops on 14 Mar via Laptop Punk Records. But you can listen to it below right now. Underneath we’ve got a what’s what of streaming and social media links to hear more from BotF, and follow them on the platform(s) of your choice.
