Hot on the heels of the recent announcement that they’ve signed to Fred Mascherino’s (Taking Back Sunday) new label Heading East Records, and releasing “Forgive & Forget”, their first single on the label, New Haven, CT’s emo pop punks Mighty Tortuga have a new single coming out tomorrow. But TGEFM had the opportunity to premiere it for you TODAY and, by The Color Fred we took it!
Discussing “Forgive & Forget” and “Sunburn”, vocalist TJ Redding relates:
Both singles have a nostalgic tone to them. “Sunburn” has a more straightforward pop rock/2005 emo sound, similar to that of The Academy Is or Mayday Parade while ‘Forgive & Forget’ resonates to modern indie rock/ pop punk sounds like Transit or The Maine.
Regarding signing to Mascherino’s new label, he says:
When our guitarist, Jacob, originally connected with Fred, we were in the midst of shopping around Eternal Sunshine, searching for a good home for the record. After receiving a few other deals, Fred offered to work with us through Heading East. Since he was just starting the label, we knew it would be the best option to work with Fred & his team. We loved the idea that they were much more hands-on and genuinely believed in what we were doing.
The band’s new EP Eternal Sunshine is due out this July, and the band will be playing a few gigs to support the new release. Check out “Sunburn” below and, underneath, details on those gigs, as well as social media, streaming and purchase links.
