German duo Unknown Fault, purveyors of music akin to an amalgamation of dark gaze, post-rock, and more have teamed up with French post-rock act Alpha de Centaure for a new split release. Titled Careless, that split is due out 07 Apr 2023 via a veritable who’s who of international labels, including Stellar Frequencies, Pyrrhic Victory Recordings, Anesthetize, Araki Records, and Label Jade.
The band will be releasing their first single from that this Friday, but TGEFM has the honor of premiering it for you today! The single is “Symptom”, and the song swings back and forth from a slow dirge to a powerful epic and back. Bassist/vocalist Nadia digs deep into the origins of the song:
I sometimes find myself falling into pretty deep holes when being too concerned with world affairs – and then I wonder why that is and if it would be better to just know nothing at all about all the injustices and all the suffering on the planet. That is what our song “Symptom“ is about. It is so clearly the right thing to care about the lives of others and the future in general and to raise your voice for humanity but it sometimes feels like an absolute burden. It leaves you wondering whether your depression is, in fact, justified. We originally based this song on an older song that we cut from the previous release, but around the old ideas grew many new ones and now only a few seconds remain from the initial version.
Preorders for the album go live on Friday, 24 Feb 2023, at the Unknown Fault website to coincide the release of “Symptom” for general consumption across major streaming sites.
