Premiere: Vempire has a great “Blattodea”!

TGEFM contributor Mike Elfers wears many hats, and plays a lot of instruments. Although we’re happiest when we’re cracking the whip on him to make more content for the site, we’re also pretty damn happy when he makes new music, too.

As such, we are pretty ecstatic to premiere the new maxi-single from one of his (many) musical endeavors, Vempire. “Lachrymose dance music” is the name of the game as Mike and Lindsey Yoneda put together a new track “Blattodea.”

“Blattodea” was a fun one for us to write. I remember one sweaty morning during my commute to my job, I fought through my hangover with this idea of writing a song that encompassed that routine “I’m never drinking ever again” cliche. This was interrupted when “Johnny and Mary” by Robert Palmer came on my car radio. I had never heard that song before, and it blew my mind. I guess he beat me to the punch decades prior, as that wonderful, sad, silly song was able to knit all of the feelings I happened to be having that morning. “Blattodea” is the biological order in which cockroaches classify, now don’t Google that while you’re hungover.

We’ve all been there. Well… except for teetotalers and those who don’t get hammered on weeknights.

“Blottodea” comes from a new dual-single Vempire will be releasing on 14 Feb, so be sure to check them out at their links below to keep in the loop!
