TGEFM is psyched to premiere a new single and lyric video from California thrash metal act Way II Stoned!
Titled “Rezin Hits,” the tracks is a brutal onslaught on drums and guitar, bolstered by the throaty vocals of Nick LaMantia and the screams of guest vocalist Leo Lopez of San Jose hardcore act Dolores. The single is a follow up to their 20202 self-titled EP.
Way II Stoned has had a quick rise from one man and a drum machine to full-fledged, pounding thrash act. From the band themselves:
When we first started out, Way II Stoned was just (me) Oscar, better known as “Wakaras” or “Mort” Lugo, with his guitar and a drum machine back in 2017 in his Southern California bedroom.
After several futile attempts the band finally came of age when Oscar decided to relocate to the Bay Area. He then recruited his brother Miguel Lugo to back him up on the drums, with Paul Hernandez picking up bass duties (who brought himself out of music retirement to step up for us) and with him he brought on Steven Landrum – the most badass 2nd lead guitar we could ask for.
The secret weapon was rolling the dice on newbie, Nick LaMantia who is now leading the pack with his powerful vocals and lyricism – this allows Oscar to do what he does best: play thrash metal guitar and be “band dad” the rest of the time. Altogether, Way II Stoned is so stoked to drop our new single and video for “Rezin Hits” and go on a multiple city tour through Mexico in support of our new upcoming album this August which is a major first for us. We’re pumped for the rest of 2021 and excited to see what 2022 has in store for us.
With two EPs and this single under their belt, the band is still pretty fresh. but more is to come and this is just a taste of what’s in store!
You can check out Way II Stoned’s music at their Spotify or YouTube pages, and be sure to hit up their Facebook or Instagram to follow the band!
