Mikey and His Uke continue to provide hard-to-come-by breaths of fresh air even as we attempt to step out from behind our masks. That positive influence continues as Mikey, his uke and his all-star collection of friends together virtually to perform some of the best covers from the scene. This time there is a raspberry-beret-wearing cabal performing Prince‘s (and Cyndi Lauper’s) amazing and underrated “When You Were Mine.”
Making doves cry in this performance are Lauren Denitzio of Worriers, Randy Bradbury of Pennywise & Punk Rock Karaoke, Darren Pfeiffer of Goldfinger & Punk Rock Karaoke, Buddy Schaub of Less Than Jake, Matt Appleton of Reel Big Fish, along with Zebrahead & Death By Stereo‘s Dan Palmer and of course the titular Mikey Hawdon of Fairmounts.
Bad Dad (occasionally called Ed) has been on the periphery of the punk and punk-adjacent scene for over twenty years. While many contributors to this site have musical experience and talent, Ed’s musical claim to fame comes from his time in arguably the most punk rock Blockbuster Video district in NJ where he worked alongside members of Blanks 77, Best Hit TV and Brian Fallon. He is more than just an awful father to his 2 daughters, he is also a dreadful husband, a subpar writer, a terrible dresser and has a severe deficiency in all things talent… but hey, at least he’s self-aware, amirite?
