TGEFM reviews work under a “fair but firm” viewpoint. We can praise work that is deserving, but understand that even the best work can have faults. Likewise, we can be critical of a work without being cruel or harsh. Think “constructive criticism.”

Reviews of full length albums/LPs should be between 300-500 words. EPs of three songs or more should be between 200-400 words. TGEFM currently does not accept single or 7″ reviews.

All reviews by TGEFM readers will be vetted by an editor prior to publication, and an editor may reach out to you for editorial purposes. Note that TGEFM editors reserve the right to accept or a refuse a submitted review, and their decisions are final.

Your review should include the following:

Band Name – This one’s pretty obvious. For live reviews, put max TWO band names, separated by forward slash (/). For splits put all band names, separated by a forward slash (/). For comps, put Various Artists. For films or books, put author/director name

Album Name – Name of the album, film, or book. Use “Live at [Venue Name]” for gig reviews.

Label / Studio / Publisher – Use “self-released” if label/film studio/publisher does not apply. For live events, use the City name.

Date – Write as DD Mmm YYYY (eg- 15 Mar 2021). Release date for albums / films / books. Gig date for live events.

Blurb – One or two eye-catching sentences summarizing your thoughts.
