Alberta’s Real Sickies have released a new video for the song “Scammy”. That track is off of their recent Danny It’s Not Your Birthday EP, which was released 04 Mar 2022 via Stomp Records.
The story behind that EP is as interesting as the album itself, and worth the read. But, as a quick summary, the band was nearly the victim of an “original birthday song” scam (for “Danny’s” 6th birthday), wherein the scammer accidentally “overpays” and quickly asks for a refund for the difference before the scammer’s original check bounces.
Good thing Real Sickies trusted their gut (and some timely research) to avoid the scam, but were inspired enough for to write three songs about it.
