If you missed Fest 20, Bad Time wants to bring the Skank to you.
This comp is a collection of Bad Time Record bands that played or were supposed to play FEST 20! There is one brand new track on the album, with the rest of the songs available on other releases. If you are new to these bands or not familiar with Bad Time Records, this comp would be a good entry point to acquaint yourself. Even though all the songs fall under the Ska or Ska Punk genre, there is a wide mix of musical styles.
Since most of these songs you may have heard before I will just touch on a few key points. The album starts off with The Suicide Machines song “Awake”, which was released earlier this year but only as a single.
If you are into faster harder Ska Punk or Ska-Core there is a track by Dissidente called “Amputee” that is from their first full length release that also came out earlier this year.
Speaking of faster songs Catfite is an alter ego of Catbite, where they play hardcore versions of Catbite songs, and on this comp the song “Already Gone” gets the HXC treatment.
The brand-new song on the album is called “One More Minute” from the East Bay Ska Punk band Omnigone.
There are several other good Ska bands on this comp, some newer, some older, some harder and some skankier, so if you are looking into some new Ska music or just discovering Ska in general, this comp is a good intro into several bands with different sounds.
Likes fine beer and cheap cheese. He has been a DJ, sound mixer for commercials and television, and currently designs motorcycle parts. He also has a habit of creating pastiche style cover songs and changing the chorus to incorporate “Jeff” or “Sorley.” (sigh… it’s true – Jeff)
