Grab your s'mores, your bug spray and pack your bags as is about to take over Northeast Pennsylvania with Camp Punksylvania! The 3-day festival with multiple stages and amazing local acts like The Suicide Machines, War On Women and A Wilhelm Scream, will take place from 1 September until 3 September, tickets are available here. Jason 3D of Camp Crystal Lake's slasher-punks joined TGEFM to discuss their upcoming appearance at for the latest installment of our Camp-centric Roll Of The Dice interview series. Check it out below and I'll see you at the campfire!

Thank you so much for agreeing to this interview! What can you tell us about The Jasons, your sound and what you stand for?

The Jasons consists of four mongoloid brothers that play loud, aggressive, and snotty red-blooded American punk rock.
The only thing we stand for is the demise of all posers, nerds and fornicators through the power of satan, our music, and a ton of sugar free red-bull.

Alright, these are questions that have been gnawing at me since I was a child so I'm asking Jason Vorhees directly here… What did you do for the 20 years between the closure of Camp Crystal Lake and the Christies'
attempted reopening? After your mother's death at Camp Blood, how did you know where Alice's house was?

So we disappear as children and reappear as literal punk rock gods all at peak male performance and you wonder what we did all those years? I think the answers pretty clear there.
Masterbated. A lot. All day everyday for 20 years until one day V decided to put down his junk and pick up his guitar. I don't know who Alice is. Probably someone Hell met on tinder.

You are gearing up for Camp Punksylvania in the coming months, what does the festival circuit mean to individual artists like yourself? We are living in a “just deal with COVID” world and everything about this timeline is some level of completely fucked. What's the state of the live scene from your point of view?

I think there are still lingering effects of Covid on live music to some degree, but for the most part things seem to be getting back to normal.
Festivals are always a great time for bands and attendees. We get to play in front of a bunch of dorks that probably wouldn't look our way due to the gimmick and in that regard get the honor and privilege of getting to witness our show live and in person while gnawing on a turkey leg or something.

Every artist has a few, what is your biggest regret? A gig you turned down, advice you didn't take, what one thing do you wish you handled differently as a musician?

Only thing we regret is not purchasing stage fans sooner or packing enough underwear for tours.
Maybe eating spicy food or drinking too much water before a show once or twice.

Any summer camp worth its salt knows there needs to be a lot of different activities to participate in.  What activity would you be in charge of if Camp Punksylvania was an actual sleepaway camp? End of the season Campfire; What song are you performing?

I ain't gonna be in charge of shit. Who wants to work at a camp except for a bunch of dorks, creepy old dudes, or people who are desperate for a few bucks.
However, ‘Camp Arawak' is a perfect campfire song since its a cheesy love song and gets requested all the time and we never play it.

Camp Punksylvania is a smorgasbord of fantastic acts. Which bands are you most excited to see on each stage?

The two bands we are looking forward to the most are The Jasons and Doc Rotten.

Was there anything I missed that you'd like to share or dive deeper into with our readers?

Buy our merch. Buy it twice. Hell, buy it a third time so we can afford some toilet paper and cheese burgers.
Streaming is cool, we all do it, but it don't pay a damn thing. So stream it all you want but be sure to also buy your favorite band's physical media or digital media.
Get our merch at www.thejasons.bigartel.com and digital at www.thejasons4.bandcamp.com
Also shout out to Kramer Guitars, Saluda Cymbals, and Fuchs Audio. If you wanna be cool, you gotta use their gear.
