Ohio late-90s/early-00s post-hardcore act Shadyside went on an indefinite hiatus in the mid-00s when vocalist Michael Malarkey went to pursue a successful acting career. But, music is always calling, ain’t it? The band reformed in 2017 and, after years of internal demos, have announced their new EP Higher Plans. Due out 10 Nov 2023, it’s their first music since 2005.
Accompanying the announcement is the first single/lead track “When the Fear Hits” and, if I’m being honest, it’s like a time machine back to that decade, like the band never missed a beat.
You can hear that single below, and visit the Mind Over Matter Records Bandcamp, where the album is available for preorder on digital DL, as well as regular vinyl and (as of this post only 3 remaining) very limited edition lathe cut vinyl. Prefer streaming, they’re on Spotify, too.
