Pogues frontman Shane McGowan has passed away. Aged 65, the singer had been dealing with health struggles over the past couple decades.
Born in Pembury, Kent, UK on Christmas day 1957, he died at home in Dublin 30 Now 2023 after being discharged from ICU in early-November, where he spent several months being treated for a serious infection.
MacGowan recorded five full-lengths with the Pogues, two in the mid-90s as Shane MacGowan and the Popes, as well as multiple singles and guest appearances. In 2018 he was bestowed a Lifetime Achievement Award in Ireland for his contribution to music and culture.
