Following the recent trend of films based on the music of iconic artists, Shoplifters of the World based on music of The Smiths, has received a trailer and release date.
RLJE films will release the Stephen Kijak directed movie in theaters and on digital or video-on-demand 26 March. The 80’s centric film is being backed by a soundtrack featuring 20 iconic hits from The Smiths.
Touting newcomers Helena Howard, Ellar Coltrane, Elena Kampouris, Nick Krause and James Bloor, along with stars Thomas Lennon and Joe Manganiello, the film follows four Denver teens as they navigate their emotions following the sudden break up of Moz and crew. With a crazed fan holding a radio station hostage, demanding a night of Smiths-only tracks over the airwaves setting the soundtrack, the friends unite in self-discovery.
Bad Dad (occasionally called Ed) has been on the periphery of the punk and punk-adjacent scene for over twenty years. While many contributors to this site have musical experience and talent, Ed’s musical claim to fame comes from his time in arguably the most punk rock Blockbuster Video district in NJ where he worked alongside members of Blanks 77, Best Hit TV and Brian Fallon. He is more than just an awful father to his 2 daughters, he is also a dreadful husband, a subpar writer, a terrible dresser and has a severe deficiency in all things talent… but hey, at least he’s self-aware, amirite?
