From the explosive early 00’s Omaha scene, Neva Dinova rejoined the conversation last year, following a brief absense. The band released a new rarities album, Demos and C-Sides. Now, the band has released its first new material in over a ten years, the single “Something’s Out There.”
Lead, Jake Bellows, explains the new single:
“I was invited to what I had believed to be a wedding ceremony. When I arrived, I found out that it was an ayahuasca ceremony. I quickly pivoted to the new program and had a profound experience that changed my perceived relationship with the universe. This song is an attempt to share that perspective.”
Demos and C-Sides is available from Saddle Creek Records, along with vinyl reissues of 2008’s You May Already Be Dreaming and for the first time on vinyl, 2001’s self-titled album and 2005’s The Hate Yourself Change. Order your copies here and check out the band as it tours in support of Cursive‘s Domestica anniversary touring cycle.
Bad Dad (occasionally called Ed) has been on the periphery of the punk and punk-adjacent scene for over twenty years. While many contributors to this site have musical experience and talent, Ed’s musical claim to fame comes from his time in arguably the most punk rock Blockbuster Video district in NJ where he worked alongside members of Blanks 77, Best Hit TV and Brian Fallon. He is more than just an awful father to his 2 daughters, he is also a dreadful husband, a subpar writer, a terrible dresser and has a severe deficiency in all things talent… but hey, at least he’s self-aware, amirite?
