Squamish Punk Night are preparing to release Axe the Hecklers Cross-Canada Cruise, the 2nd compilation CD in as many years to emerge from the west coast mountain town of Squamish BC, Canada. The free / by donation compilation spans from coast to coast, featuring new and unreleased music from BOSSES , Russian Tim & Pavel Bures , Anonymericans, The Corps, The Follow Ups, Prior Convictions, and many more.
Another intention of the compilation album is to connect bands from across Canada, thereby bolstering the national DIY tour circuit. If you have not yet heard of Squamish Punk Night, here is what you’ve missed so far:
Squamish Punk Night started out of necessity in 2018. Nestled between Whistler and Vancouver BC, the small town did not have any established punk rock venues or bookers, so local band Anonymericans took the reins. Starting with Modern Terror, Dayglo Abortions, and DOA gigs, they would soon join forces with Russian Tim & Pavel Bures from Vancouver BC, leading to an influx of molten hot Punk Rock flowing from the Mega-City’s well established scene. Among these bands were heavy hitters such as Rong, You Big Idiot, Aanthems, The Corps and ATD. The gigs have been well attended and memorable, sometimes bubbling over into Squamish Punk Fest, a two day eruption that saw up to 10 bands sharing the stage.
The DIY spirit of Punk Rock is alive and well in Squamish BC Canada. This new compilation features artwork by the legendary Steve Kitchen of Combination 13. It is available on July 1 2021 via the Squamish Punk Night Bandcamp page.
You can check out the Safe Decisions track “Keep On Drinking” from the first volume below, and visit Bandcamp to hear more.
(Full disclosure – my band Let’s Go will also have a track included on the compilation)
Tyler Hall is a dude from Canada. Despite being in his thirties, he continues to play in a punk rock band like an angsty teenager.
