Adorably oddball indie/punk act Surfbort have released a cover of the classic Christmas tune “Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer.” The original dates back to 1979, performed by Elmo Shropshire and his (then) wife Patsy Trigg. As a young child back in the late-70s/early 80s, this song was such a treat! If it was on the car radio when we got to your destination we’d make our parents leave the car on so that we could finish it, because who knows when it would be on again?
Ahem… anyhow, while Surfbort’s cover musically isn’t too much different than the original, boy oh boy does the video go to some decidedly different thematic places.
