I go away to a geek convention for ONE WEEKEND and the Levant goes to the shitter. Hamas, being the assholes that they are, stage a surprising attack into Israel, kidnapping over a 100 people, and killing hundreds more. The Israeli government, being the assholes that they are, stage air strikes “against Hamas” in the Gaza Strip, which is laughable because the place is so small that any military target also tends to be an apartment building with hundreds of civilians. Last report is that around 4000 Palestinian civilians have been confirmed killed by Israel’s retaliatory strikes.
Anyhow, we’ve got more new music new and old, combining weeks 40 and 41.
Remember that you, YES YOU, can also participate. Just follow the instructions at the bottom of this post to submit YOUR picks to add to our mixtape.

Here’s the scoop: TGEFM staff are trying something a bit different for 2023. Instead of separate weekly playlists of what we’ve been listening to, we’re launching a year-long playlist, one that will grow each and every week as we add more songs to it. Our requirements are to first submit one NEW song released within the past month, and then one song released at any time. If those two criteria are satisfied, then we also get to include ONE SONG EACH from any band we may have seen live the past week. We’ll get the playlist updated on/around Sunday of each week.
READER CONTRIBUTIONS: Yes, you can make your voice heard. You just need to follow the same requirements TGEFM staff are beholden to in the previous paragraph!
the white drew carey (aka – Jeff Sorley) is the founder and head editor of TGEFM. He’s lived (outside of) Chicago, Madison WI, (ugh) Penn State, Lyon FR, Oxford UK, central New Jersey, and now within earshot of SFO in the Bay Area. When not scouring the web for more great bands and labels to post about, he also spends time drawing (mostly) silly sci-fi and anime stuff under the name Asplenia Studios.
