The Bruce Lee Band release new track “Division in the Heartland,” proceeds to benefit #stopasianhate

Putting their music to even better use than aural pleasure, The Bruce Lee Band has released a new single to benefit #stopasianhate.

Titled “Division in the Heartland,” the song features a smorgasbord of talent. In addition to current TBLB members Jeff Rosenstock, Dan Potthast (MU330), and Kevin Higuchi (Insolence); the single also enjoys the likes of Jeremy Hunter (We Are The Union, Skatune Network), Laura Stevenson (Bomb the Music Industry!), Augusta Koch (Cayetana) and more.

The single is available as a name-your-price download on Bandcamp but, if you throw some money at it, all proceeds will go to Stop AAPI Hate to help prevent hate crimes against Asians and Pacific Islanders, as well as provide resources for victims of AAPI hate crimes.

TBLB’s Mike Park says:

Every year I think to myself “things will get better
ONE STEP FORWARD!!

but I feel like we end up taking two steps back. The anti asian hate has been something I’ve experienced my whole life. In grade school there were 5 other asian american boys my grade. Kids would slant their eyes and yell ching chong gibberish at me. Flying Karate kicks of course and the plethora of stereotypes were plentiful. I would go home and cry and wish that I was white. Can you imagine? What a terrible feeling.

FF to this day where AA hate crimes have been in everyone’s feed. But this shit has been happening to me my whole life. The model minority doesn’t fight back. We’re taught to be subservient. To excel at everything. There’s really nothing more I can say other than I’m committed to be part of the GOOD TROUBLE. To help achieve greater prosperity through my actions.

The Bruce Lee Band released a new song today called “division in the heartland”. It’s the first of a batch of songs that will be released in May. The song is angry, the song is passionate, the song is reactionary, the song is therapy. All proceeds go to STOP AAPI HATE
