The glizzies? Well, they’re bangin’ in new single “Glizzies Bangin'” from Middle-Aged Queers

Award-winning* punk act Middle-Aged Queers, out of Oakland, CA, have dropped their first new music in over a year with the single “Glizzies Bangin’.” What the heck does all that mean? Well, people show up to MAG shows in hot dog costumes. Why? Who knows, but as the band elaborates a bit more:

It started off at a show in Sacramento with a pair of friends in coordinated hot dog and mustard costumes, joined by a spattering of young people in clown makeup. A local tradition, perhaps? No. The phenomena followed us from coast to coast. And while the occasional banana or other food costume will make an appearance, a hot dog in the pit seems to be the most frequent sighting. We have no idea why. We prefer it to remain a mystery.

Too bad Robert Stack isn’t alive to shed more light on this. Meanwhile, over at Sell The Heart Records this exists. It’s the preorder for their new album Theatre of Shame, which is due out in April.

A tribute to their be-costumed fans on the eve of St. Valentine’s Day… what could be more sweet? You can hear the single below, and head to Bandcamp or Spotify for more from the band. There’s also their super-stacked link page to lead you to all things MAG.

Last but not least, Middle-Aged Queers are playing a couple of shows this weekend, including their annual Valentines Gay shows at 924 Gilman on Friday and over in Sacramento on Saturday. See those dates and links underneath the stream.
