The Natural Lines (formerly Matt Pond PA) have debuted “No More Tragedies,” the latest single off the upcoming self-titled record. And yes, that is uber-talented actress Kate Walsh toting a brick across Australia.
Of the single, frontman Matt Pond says:
I used to think that my frustration and anger were powerful tools that could pull me through any conflict. Through the song and entire album, I realized that I’ve been doing it all wrong. Everyone has a story; everyone is worth the attempt at understanding. I wrote to Kate Walsh to see if she was up for carrying a brick around Australia in the music video. Kate has endless presence and depth in a simple stare, so it was a dream come true when she said yes. ‘No More Tragedies’ dictated the story for the rest of the album. From then on, everything I wrote had to be real, even the parts that weren’t flattering. That’s why I changed the name of the band — it was a new way of making music — a late start on an uncharted path.
Bad Dad (occasionally called Ed) has been on the periphery of the punk and punk-adjacent scene for over twenty years. While many contributors to this site have musical experience and talent, Ed’s musical claim to fame comes from his time in arguably the most punk rock Blockbuster Video district in NJ where he worked alongside members of Blanks 77, Best Hit TV and Brian Fallon. He is more than just an awful father to his 2 daughters, he is also a dreadful husband, a subpar writer, a terrible dresser and has a severe deficiency in all things talent… but hey, at least he’s self-aware, amirite?
