The Pomps (featuring members of Big D and The Kids Table, Stray Bullets and more) released their sophomore LP, Bottom of the Pomps, back in February. It’s great, check out our review here.
The band has now given us a new video for the song “Fire in the Neighborhood.” There’s a lot behind the song and video than just catchy tunes and quirky visuals. Bassist Jameson Hollis relates:
A love letter to the ska community, which first welcomed me with its music and camaraderie more than twenty years ago when once I thought I had no place to turn. More recently, the ska community has again shown me true kindness and acceptance when again I thought I had nowhere to go. The video is about me grappling with my gender expression and identity, my overall psyche, and my belief that there must be a better world where human cruelty is no longer done. Thank you all.
I’m not crying… just dust in my eye.
Check it out below, and swing by their Bandcamp to order the album on digital, or the Bad Time Records webstore for limited edition vinyl.
