Activision has announced a list of 37 new artists to be joining the 22 classic tracks returning to the remaster of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2, releasing on PS4 and Xbox 1 on 4 September, 2020. The studio had previously released a playlist featuring the returning songs available here.
When Activision released Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater in 1999 and its sequel in 2000, the soundtracks garnered nearly as much attention as the games themselves. Featuring artists such as Dead Kennedys, Suicide Machines and The Vandals they were an important part of the gameplay, so much so that a large portion of a generation can’t hear Goldfinger‘s “Superman” without imagining themselves in The Hangar level.
Along with the returning artists, new artists to be featured will include The Ataris, Sublime, Screaming Females and Merkules. A newly released video featuring some behind the scenes information on the skaters and soundtrack from Noisey can be seen below.
Bad Dad (occasionally called Ed) has been on the periphery of the punk and punk-adjacent scene for over twenty years. While many contributors to this site have musical experience and talent, Ed’s musical claim to fame comes from his time in arguably the most punk rock Blockbuster Video district in NJ where he worked alongside members of Blanks 77, Best Hit TV and Brian Fallon. He is more than just an awful father to his 2 daughters, he is also a dreadful husband, a subpar writer, a terrible dresser and has a severe deficiency in all things talent… but hey, at least he’s self-aware, amirite?
