Cover songs should invariably be different than the original. I’m more a fan of covers than by-the-numbers “tributes” because, if the original is good enough, why would I want to hear someone else doing the same thing?
Enter the surprisingly entertaining cover of the Ramones‘ classic song “Pet Sematary” by Vempire. The band features occasional TGEFM contributor Mike Elfers, but don’t think for the second that’s why we dig it (and definitely not because of the blackmail material Mike has on us). It’s legit quite good in its moody, dark-wave (mood wave?) style.
the white drew carey (aka – Jeff Sorley) is the founder and head editor of TGEFM. He’s lived (outside of) Chicago, Madison WI, (ugh) Penn State, Lyon FR, Oxford UK, central New Jersey, and now within earshot of SFO in the Bay Area. When not scouring the web for more great bands and labels to post about, he also spends time drawing (mostly) silly sci-fi and anime stuff under the name Asplenia Studios.
