Video premiere: I have a “Sad Realization” that this video from Streets To Ourselves is awesome

OK, not so sad. In fact, quite a bit pumped, to be honest! Toronto’s Streets To Ourselves sent out an email that they would be releasing a video for the recent single “Sad Realization,” which dropped back in early August. Like a cat on a bag of catnip I jumped on that and proposed a premiere with TGEFM and they said “yes!”

So that brings us here. TGEFM is super-excited to premiere the new video for “Sad Realization” from Streets To Ourselves. I mean, yeah, we don’t want to ever drift away from the people we love, but I guess it happens, and STO makes a wee bit more palatable.

The song ‘Sad Realization’ is about coming to terms with the demise of the group of friends I grew up with. But for the music video I wanted to showcase some of my favourite outdoor spots in our hometown of Toronto. I chose some beautiful waterfront locations on Lake Ontario, as well as underneath one of the city’s major highways, and a great little spot called Graffiti Alley. I really like the way the natural settings contrast with the urban backdrops and the many amazing graffiti pieces. I wanted to keep it punk rock and sprinkle in some social commentary in the music video as well, so I included a show of support for Ukraine, Black Lives Matter, and I fly a Pride flag. There’s also a little bit of sophomore Pop-Punk humour throughout the video because I didn’t want to take myself too seriously.

This is the fourth track from their upcoming sophomore LP, and more info to come soon on that. In the meantime, visit them at their Bandcamp, Spotify, and this Linktree page to hear their previous music.
