Video premiere: Let’s put it off until “Mañana” in new single and video from James Domestic

UK’s James Domestic, known for hardcore acts The Domestics and Tokyo Lungs (amongst others) is out to surprise with his new single and video, “Mañana.” The track, wildly different from what one would expect of the “East Anglian Hardcore” virtuoso, is the third single from his upcoming solo album Carrion Repeating, due out this coming April via James’ own Kibou Records, TNS Records, and Amok Records.

When asked about “Mañana,” James has this to say:

Mañana’s about taking things easy, letting things slide a bit and not worrying… which is kind of ironic coming from me! Eddie O-Toole from one of my other bands, PI$$ER, and THE FILAMENTS, plays sax on it, my mate Matt from HAZARD PROFILE plays steel drums and extra guitar on it. Clare’s back again on this one, and John Hewson does some backing vocals too, so it has quite a “musical family” feel.  Our cats, Fred and Susie are even in the video, as is Ted Mint from THE DOMESTICS. Dressed as an alligator. It’s very different to both Faze Out and Push on Through, the previous singles, which themselves were pretty different to each other. The rules are out of the window here

He then elaborates further on why this album differs in style and substance from his previous punk/hardcore acts:

It’s pretty simple; I’m a massive music nerd. A vinyl nerd too. Obviously, I love hardcore, or I wouldn’t be in so many bands playing different variations of it, but I DJ reggae, northern soul and raw funk, and I listen to all kinds of stuff aside from punk and hardcore.  Carrion Repeating, and the singles from it are all the sounds in my head squeezed out into the same glass.  It’s a song orientated record, and it’s a totally fearless record in its approach. Total punk in the truest sense.

As a site that really leans into the “adjacent” part of our motto, TGEFM can get behind that sentiment!
