We’ve got something good for you today! Australian troubadour Luke Seymoup has got a new video out for his recent single “Knife,” and we’ve got the premiere for you! That single originally dropped on 09 Oct 2021, but now Luke has gone and made a video for it.
Seymoup has this to say about the lo-fi, silent film style of the video:
As soon as we finished tracking ‘Knife’, I already had my vision for the video. This track is our spooky season anthem and I knew I wanted to make it a tribute to the classic horror B-movies that I grew up loving. I love those old low budget movies like ‘Plan 9 From Outer Space’ and ‘Night of the Living Dead’, so I tried my best to recreate that look of schlocky goodness. The kicker for shooting this video was that Melbourne had been in lockdown for months, that meant there was no chance of shooting it out on the street. It took a little creativity, some public domain movies and a green screen to finally get it done. The result is something I think is really fun and fits the song to a tee.
What I find amusing is that Seymoup goes and makes a catchy song with some pretty bummer lyrics, and then goes and make a video like this which is pretty tongue-in-cheek.
