Illinois’ anthemic pop-punks Rematch will be releasing a new album soon, and TGEFM is excited to premiere the first single and video, “Retrograde,” for you today!
Aside from the power-pop and catchy “wooo-ooos,” the video is a kick to watch as the band’s doppelgängers on the film crew make things overly difficult for themselves.
Titled Nothing Like You Wanted, that new album is currently expected around summer of 2024. I know that’s a long time to wait, but I’d bet that Rematch will have more great music from the album to tease us with before then. As for how “Retrograde” slots into the album itself? Guitarist Noah Polino explains:
A big theme on this album is being able to maturely let go of a relationship that isn’t right for you, this song is the antithesis of that. A bitter breakup anthem for anyone that’s ever had to say “this is the last time” one too many times.
