Video premiere: “Snapback” with PRISMS|SUNSETS

Dallas duo have an interesting name, but not as interesting as their music. The band released their debut single, the first from an upcoming album, at the beginning of the month. Now TGEFM is beyond pleased to premiere the lyric video for the song, so you can sing along in your car, office, bathroo… well only the one at home. Maybe not the one at work.

It’s hard for me to pin down PRISMS|SUNSETS and, yeah, we only have one sample of their music to go by right now. Surprisingly, a lot of the rhythms and vocal delivery at parts (but not all) reminded me a lot if Superchunk took one of their peppier songs and turned it into full-on arena emo-pop. But what does the band have to say about it?

“Snapback” (is) a fun one. Each track from the upcoming record offers something different, and this one just felt right as the launchpad for the project. When I was writing the music, I couldn’t even fathom what kind of story it could tell, but Shane killed it and I’m stoked people are vibing with it.

“Snapback” really is a story about self-realization. It’s about rising above the drama, shrugging it off, and just enjoying living in the moment. I think everybody needs that recharge–that renewed perspective–from time to time to keep their sanity. That carefree vibe really shines through in this track.

A few weeks ago PRISMS|SUNSETS also released a play though video, featuring the multi-instrumentalist Justyn performing the music from the song.
