Rise and shine, everyone! TGEFM is going to start your Friday off right. How, you may ask? By premiering the new video from Toronto hardcore quartet (hardquartet?) Choices Made. “Nothing Without” is an anthem that will get you through the day and straight into the weekend full of positive energy. It comes off of the band’s Reason for Conflict EP, which was released in May 2021 via Cursed Blessings.
We poked and prodded Choices Made for a few words on the song and video, and got two answers back. That’s dedication! First off we have Andrew on bass:
We try not to take things too seriously in this band but we wanted to put a video out that showed the band in it’s rawest fashion, doing what we all enjoy. It’s great that we get to create killer music together, and even better when we get to add another creative such as Michael “Crusty” Amaral in the mix and produce a fun-filled, energetic video. There’s no bells-and-whistles…this is Choices Made…this is who we are!
Vocalist Josh adds:
When I think of music videos, I personally get awkward just thinking about being in a room and recreating passion or intensity for a song I have created to put it out there visually. When I write the words I sing, it is all about just how I am feeling in that moment, so to come back to the song and create something new to represent a moment in time is hard.
We worked with Mike Crusty on this one because we have seen what he has done and he keeps it authentic to the music. He made it feel comfortable, told us to perform it exactly how we would want it to feel and the final video truly was something I feel proud of and will look back and be grateful for.
The song is all about pushing through all the bullshit, turmoil and trying to persevere. Something I need to try and remind myself on a daily basis.
I hope this song can help anyone who needs that reminder as well and I think the video sticks to the root of the song.
