The second single of the year from Germany’s Alex Hellcat, “Waiting for the Blackout,” is now available. Out via Spinechill Records, the song follows last month’s “Get it Right,” both of which are Alex’s first new music since Oct 2023. Alex explains the years-long genesis of the tune:
I had this Spanish-sounding guitar part that I really liked, and I first recorded the song as a demo in 2019. Originally, the track had a different chorus and was called “You’re Wrong.” Lyrically, it was a completely different song, and I wasn’t really happy with it, so it remained a demo track. Earlier this year, I picked it up again and changed the chorus because I wanted to use the line, “This city’s like a jungle that chews you up and spits you out.” Plus, I wanted to tell a sad story about a lonely girl whose journey turned somewhat tragic. I added wind and wave sound effects to give the song more depth.
It can be purchased via the Alex Hellcat Bandcamp, or streaming at Spotify.
