Right from the into the classic 1985 film Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, you knew you were in for a treat with the opening beat of “One of the Living,” the first of two original songs for the film performed by Tina Turner. After Turner’s passing last week, Two Minutes to Late Night says “When Karl (Beuchner) from Earth Crisis asks to cover the angry Tina song from Mad Max, you gather the oddest team of musicians possible and give it a breakdown. RIP to simply The Best, Tina Turner.”
So here we are. Gwarsenio and Karl are joined by War on Women‘s Jennifer Vito, Megadeth‘s Dick Verbeuren, Rise Against‘s Joe Principe, and Fishbone‘s Angelo Moore for this fitting tribute.
Jennifer Vito – War On Women
Dirk Verbeuren – Megadeth
Joe Principe – Rise Against
Angelo Moore – Fishbone
Two Minutes To Late Night is a heavy-metal themed talk show featuring Gwarsenio Hall, the corpse-painted host and his house band, Mutoid Man. Previous covers have included a brilliant medley of 90s club hits and unique takes on Rush, Rage Against the Machine and Bonnie Raitt among others, all of which can be found here.
