New band 2m8o have announced a new album coming up. Details on the album are currently sparse, but we'll share it as it comes available. Ahead of the release, the band has delivered a lead single and video for an album track called “What Trent Does” (or “Trent”). “What Trent Does” is a melodic and upbeat number with cleanly strummed guitars, a bouncy beat with some double-tap snares, a pulsing bass that does a good job of working its way into my brain, and some tasteful and melodic organs/synths that really elevate the song. That said, my favorite part of the song are the vocals. They are sung genuinely and without affectation. There's a real sweet and raw simpleness to them and the vocal melody is catchy and fantastic – really making me fall for this song. It's catchy indie pop rock for sure with no trace of angst or fury like lots of the stuff I tend to listen to, but I like it. I'll be giving it some more listens for sure.
