After two years, multi-national supergroup Pressure Set is on the cusp of releasing their debut, self-titled full-length this Friday, 02 Oct 2026. Now, with just a few days to go, TGEFM is excited to premiere the third single from the album, “Mutant Death Guide.”
The question is: Why should you care about Pressure Set? There’s a ton of reasons but, first and foremost look at the pedigree on display: Daryl Wilson (The Bollweevils), Dom Brining (Bear Away), Rob Burleson (SPELLS), and Simon Lamb (Methadones, Sludgeworth). Pressure Set began when Burleson and Brining bonded over matching Rocket From The Crypt tattoos, and everything snowballed from there.
As for “Mutant Death Guide,” Wilson remarks:
I remember looking at the title and hearing the music, and it made me think of the mutants in Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns. The frenetic nature of the song had me picturing some animated, rust-colored wasteland, populated with these mutant gangs. There were some lost people in the wasteland looking for someone to guide them out, and here comes the hero, The Mutant Death Guide! Somewhere I was also thinking of Naked Raygun as I was writing this one. Go figure.
Brining adds:
I remember I was doing merch for Bear Away supporting The Restarts, then Daryl’s demo popped in my inbox. So I’m trying to listen with my phone to my ear between bands just smiling.
I’ll be honest, it does feel like early NR distilled through a slightly punkier lens. Plus, at 48 seconds long, you can listen to it almost twelve times during one play through of “November Rain,” and probably come away all the better for it.
Pressure Set comes out 02 Oct 2026 via Dr. Strange Records. You can preorder the album on two vinyl variants here, and check out the Pressure Set website for socials and streaming links.
The band will also be performing at the The Fest 24 in Gainesville, FL on 24 Oct, or at Dr. Strange Winter Bash in Rancho Cucamonga, CA performing on 15 Jan
