Long-running (minus a brief hiatus) UK indie act The Wedding Present, essentially the David Gedge project at this point), will be celebrating the 35th anniversary of their sophomore LP Bizarro with a pair of gigs this coming October. The band will play the album in its entirety, along with select tracks from their extensive catalog of studio albums, singles, and more
Bizarro was released 23 Oct 1989 via RCA Records, solidifying the early- The Wedding Present sound. Lead singer and sole founding member David Gedge shares:
Bizarro was our second album and you can hear on it how much we had learned from the experience of recording our debut, George Best. You only have to listen to something like “Bewitched” to notice that there’s much more in the way of texture and depth on Bizarro. We’d just improved as songwriters and arrangers, basically. It’s no less-frenetic a record, though!
The event will see the band performing in London, and then in their hometown of Leeds. See the poster below, and visit this link for more info on all The Wedding Present’s upcoming gigs.
the white drew carey (aka – Jeff Sorley) is the founder and head editor of TGEFM. He’s lived (outside of) Chicago, Madison WI, (ugh) Penn State, Lyon FR, Oxford UK, central New Jersey, and now within earshot of SFO in the Bay Area. When not scouring the web for more great bands and labels to post about, he also spends time drawing (mostly) silly sci-fi and anime stuff under the name Asplenia Studios.
